Debbie with Her New Friend Rudy, A Sheltie Caught/Rescued 10/05/02

Hi everyone - have to share. I've been up for 40 hrs now but worth it. By sheer chance, I was turned onto a call for a Sheltie that was running loose. I set a trap at edge of woods, sat in Jeep for TWENTY hours (yes, I feel it) and saw "it" around midnight prancing around trap. Very dark, couldn't even be sure it was a Sheltie. This morning 7am (Sat) when I left Jeep, trap food eaten, no dog :( I took the food dish out, hung a hotdog from topside of trap w/shoestring, way back so the dog would have to dance on top of the footplate. Left, went home to shower and got a call less than two hours later from homeowner who let me sit there for so long. Sheltie dog inside :O I've named him "Rudy" for now, he's intact, handsome, had about 20 ticks, no microchip, old blue collar, no tags. He's also been out for some time; he's only 10 lbs and all ribs. So far, no lost dog reports on him and he's quite the walker (really could have traveled) and talker and he loves my lap and belly rubs. Rescue was notified before I got on scene and if all goes well, Rudy will be there by Monday. Thanks for letting me share. A happy day for both a little dog & me.
